Vintage Brut has won on soft ground but is penalised for a Listed success at Sandown back in May. Junius Brutus also handles the going and was runner-up in Group 3 company last time while Life of Riley finished in front of Deia Glory when third in last month’s Molecomb at Goodwood. COSMIC LAW has failed to figure in Group 2 sprints including the Gimcrack at York last time. But he dotted up by six lengths in soft ground at Epsom in June and gets the vote with Paul Hanagan preferring him of the three Fahey runners. Dave Dexter has plenty to find on these terms but the unexposed Secret Venture could have been found an easier opportunity and is worth a second glance.
