In depth
Formwatch
Indian Spark Possibly better over the minimum trip but is still top quality at this trip; trainer coming back into form and is one for a the shortlist.
Honesty Fair Genuine 6f horses who can't hit the front too soon; last run can be discounted (7f on good to soft) and better judged on York effort 17 days ago when beating large field.
Summerhill Parkes Lightly-raced and highly strung individual; bags of talent but is taking on some wily older horses here; chance if getting uncontested lead.
Ellens Academy (IRE) Best recent effort over 5f but ran creditably at York behind Honesty Fair; weighted to reverse that form.
Guinea Hunter (IRE) More consistent of late and if reproducing form of last two runs will hold every chance; acts on any ground and goes well on this course; trainer's horses not really firing however.
Smokin Beau Effective over 5-6f; would not want the ground too soft and trainer has worryingly had no runner for a while; best avoided here.
The Tatling (IRE) Some good efforts for Michael Bell before moving to David Nichols; debut run for new stable not up to winning this this but trainer is respected and stable starting to fire.
Needwood Blade Stepping down in trip from recent efforts but was running well earlier this term; possibly below this level but is genuine sort.
Ghazal (USA) Lightly-raced from powerful stable who although would need improvement on Yarmouth effort has a live chance from a possible plum draw.
Brevity Has become a very popular horse this term winning plenty of races; put up best performance to date last time at Doncaster and a reproduction of that effort will see him go close.
Perfect Peach Had been improving until disappointing at Doncaster last time out; has been aimed at this race all season and trainer coming back to form.
Candleriggs (IRE) Has been a presence in these big handicaps all season without really threatening; leading Irish apprentice could help cause.
Jessica's Dream (IRE) Form over this trip not up to the level expected and trainer slightly out of sorts.
Marsad (IRE) Excellent efforts at specialist track Goodwood of late but is not one to rely upon especially at this track.
Undeterred Consistently good this season and top jockey booked; probably Group class and has an excellent chance for in-form trainer.
Continent From the same stable as Undeterred and of similar quality; good jockey booking and should go close.
Halmahera (IRE) Disappointed last time out but had previously shown form good enough to take this event; trainer could be in better form but places possibilities.
Ambitious Usually runs his race but likely (as usual) to find a couple too good.
Get Stuck In (IRE) Stable struggling of late and this will not help this inconsistent but capable sprinter; surprise if he gets competitive.
Threezedzz Would have to be at the very top of his game to figure here based on the balance of form.
Technician (IRE) Credit to his trainer and top notch effort ;last time at York; primed for this event and a win would be no surprise.
Antonio Canova Succession of top-draw efforts of late including big handicap win at Ripon; excellent chance if showing the same turn of foot he did last time.
Ho Leng (IRE) Forgetting last run this was an improving horse who would be very capable of landing this good prize; weighted to go well.
Banjo Bay (IRE) Holds Antonio Canova on Ripon form and entitled to go close in this event although is not always the most reliable.
Armagnac Had been showing improved form of late until disappointing at Haydock in the mud latest; has ability and could be in the shake-up if Haydock race has not destroyed his confidence.
Seven No Trumps Can put up the occasional top quality effort and trainer in fair form; does run below par at times and is not one to rely upon totally.
Abbajabba Trainer beginning to find a little form and best efforts should entitle this horse to a fair chance; will not be troubled by soft ground.
Fire Dome (IRE) Looks too long in the tooth to play a major role here unless the ground becomes bottomless.
