      Verdict

      Jonjo O'Neill's Renvyle has shown enough in bumpers to suggest that a race of this nature would be well within his compass and he is taken to score at the main expense of the Len Lungo-trained pair of Karatchi and Esp Hill. The last mentioned looks the second string if judged by jockey bookings with Tony Dobbin taking the mount on French import Karatchi, who's ability is impossible to evaluate. Alan Parker's Em's Royalty belied market odds of 33/1 when finishing a creditable five-length third behind Derivative on his debut over course and distance in February. However, an absence since then is a concern so we prefer to side with Renvyle. The son of Satco, who was formerly trained in Ireland, made a winning debut for his new connections when landing a bumper at Newton Abbot in September. The five-year-old has struggled under a penalty in two starts since but now makes his first venture into novice hurdles and should prove too good for his rivals. The Nicky Richards-trained Next To Nothing is probably better than he has shown so far and has to be respected with the stable in good form but Renvyle holds solid claims and is difficult to oppose.
