Verdict
BENATO THE GREAT was professional enough on debut to win a relatively weak maiden. He showed there were still plenty of elements he can improve upon and with a potentially better run today off a very fair mark, David Nicholls' runner can score again. Ingleby Arch prefers the all-weather and failed to handle testing conditions most recently, but contrastingly Durham Express relished the heavy ground at Newcastle last month and could still be involved despite racing off top weight. Music Festival has some good pedigree and won at the course in August holding Monte Mayor One by a neck. They may be closely matched once again. Orchid Wing appreciated racing on the Fibresand at Southwell over the minimum trip and the returning step-up in distance is unlikely to bring any benefit. Lake Chini is in decent nick having won on soft ground at Newcastle two starts ago and could be the main threat to Benato The Great, who gets the vote.
