California Lad is much better on artificial surfaces but Machiavelli has been getting closer and probably deserves a change of luck. SCHOOLBOY ERROR never figured on his return to action at Roscommon, when behind California Lad, but there was more promise in a recent fourth at Fairyhouse and Shane Nolan’s gelding has slipped to a fair mark. Lady Annalee would have claims on last season’s form for Karl Burke but her absence since October is a concern.
