In depth
Verdict
Villair showed his liking for an extreme test of stamina when scoring at Market Rasen earlier this month and Charlie Mann's gelding is taken to follow up off his 8lb higher mark with Brandy Wine and Harlov rated the main dangers. Ebony Light seems plenty high enough in the weights now and has yet to prove his effectiveness over this far, while Sir Frosty needs to improve significantly on what he showed on his reappearance run at Exeter earlier this month to trouble the selection. Moorlands Again has more on his plate under a penalty than when scoring at Warwick last time, while Limerick Leader has given little cause for optimism of late. Len Lungo's Wetherby winner Brandy Wine is only 1lb higher now going back over fences and remains relatively unexposed. He rates a bigger threat than Harlov, who has conditions to suit but is not the most reliable of customers. Like a lot of the stable's horses, Villair has done little wrong of late though and he gets the vote.
