        Verdict

        Sad Times, Alice Who and Afric Star are sure to be popular in this seller but we will side with Flying Lion as our idea of the winner. The key to this contest could be a race at Warwick last week in which Sad Times finished second behind Alittleriskie. The bare form of that race would make Sad Times the one to beat, but Flying Lion was slowly away that day and was then badly hampered when making his challenge. He may well have finished in front of Sad Times with a clear run and we are happy to nominate him today to gain his compensation. Afric Star also ran in that same Warwick race and she ran a fair race, but she did not look as though she had progressed from her debut run and on that basis we will pass her over today. Alice Who was well beaten on her debut but this ease in grade and the faster ground may see her in a better light today. This is a fascinating contest and for the winner we will return to Flying Lion.
