        Verdict

        Verne Castle, a maiden after eight attempts, is running well enough to contend off her mark of 68 after going down narrowly here last time when beaten half a length into fourth in the tightest of finishes. Ed De Giles has enjoyed a golden run of form recently and Swanton Blue caught the eye as an improver the last day when third at Chepstow behind Joules and Caitie in a similar contest. She was reeled in late on that day so the drop back to the minimum trip seems a wise move and Pat Cosgrave is a good booking, Pine Ridge and Consulting are both respected on the best of their efforts but SHOWMETHEWAYAVRILO has a good record at this track, is reliably consistent and didn't get anything like a clear passage last time when just over a length behind Rosealee in the race where Verne Castle came home fourth.
