Verdict

Wilfred Pickles was undone by the lack of a gallop at Newmarket and can show that run to be all wrong but this 15-race maiden can't be backed with confidence until he's shown he can get the job done. Effigy is still well above his last winning mark but on his form in May would have live claims and he's reluctantly opposed with quick ground perhaps not in his favour. Similar comments apply to One Scoop Or Two whose improvement in form has coincided with falling rain, so our vote goes to COPPER PENNY. David Lanigan has only sent five runners to the track in recent seasons and the hint should be taken here, as his filly showed much more on her return from a break at Redcar and promises to be suited by stepping up to a mile. She'll relish the ground and remains capable of better, so is fancied to beat the likes of Advertise who is hard to win with and may be anchored by a 5lb rise in the weights, and Captain Macarry who could be returning to form for a trainer doing the same.
