Verdict

Roger Charlton has won two of the last four of these but Imperium, despite being by Frankel out of dual Oaks winner Ramruna, didn’t show enough on his debut at Ascot to suggest he can beat SHREWDNESS, providing the ground doesn’t turn soft. William Haggas’ filly looked a certain future winner when narrowly beat at Lingfield but flopped when well supported on ground with some give at Goodwood. Monaafasah never got into contention at Salisbury but was staying on at the finish over that 1m2f so should do better over this trip. The chaser More Buck’s, six times a winner over the bigger obstacles, is unlikely to have the pace for this.
