In depth

Verdict

MAUDLIN MAGDALEN had been working towards a first success before losing her maiden tag at Dundalk on Sunday. She had a comfortable victory that day and a 5lb penalty shouldn't be enough to prevent a quick double. Woodsophiesmile attracted good support at Galway three weeks ago and, though only just getting up, won with a bit in hand. A 6lb rise isn't excessive and she's a big danger. Byron Beauty ran easily her best race to date when narrowly beaten by Elusive Express here last month and should progress enough to get competitive along with Jeangeorges, who has dropped to a very lowly mark and almost took advantage at Tipperary.
