Verdict

UPONTHE HOOF has been well supported on his two latest starts but hasn't quite managed to get there. He's only had three runs over timber and with today's trip likely to bring about improvement he's taken to get off the mark. Connaught Manor looked a very smart prospect when landing a Roscommon bumper and though eventually well beaten on his hurdling bow at Galway will have found the 2m much too short and this is more like it. Winning point-to-pointer Gate Please was an impressive bumper winner at Galway and is just the type Mick Hourigan does so well with while the likes of King Malik, Hello Louie and Playtime Ben are all capable of producing a good run in an unusually competitive maiden.
