In depth

Verdict

This will be a bittersweet victory for connections if Orb returns to his best. The impressive Kentucky Derby winner flopped in the Preakness at Pimlico three weeks ago and blew his chance of landing the Triple Crown but this longer trip looks sure to suit. He's fancied to reverse running with Preakness winner Oxbow stretching out to 1m4f and has already beaten most of the remainder in the Kentucky Derby. That includes REVOLUTIONARY, who finished third at Churchill Downs but gave the Preakness a miss. Todd Pletcher's War Pass colt will be fresh for this and gets the vote with further progress likely. Stablemate and filly Unlimited Budget bids to emulate Rags To Riches, who won this for Pletcher in 2007, while Freedom Child is another who should go well.
