In depth
Verdict
Paris Bell can overcome a modest draw to take this contest at the expense of Royal Island and Obe Gold. Paris Bell ran a decent race behind the useful Bigalos Bandit on testing ground at Redcar. While the draw is an obvious worry, she did look open to improvement on the day and should go well here. Royal Island has a good draw today and comes from the all-conquering Mark Johnston stable. On breeding, his relatives stayed much further than this as juveniles and we will maintain a watching brief this time around. Obe Gold has to be respected from the Mick Channon team. The team possibly aren't firing in as many winners as they usually do at this time of year and the market will offer us major clues this afternoon. Joe Jo Star ran a stormer at 80/1 for his connections on debut and probably won't be so underestimated on this occasion. Dan's Heir was a doubtful runner at the time of print.
