In depth

Verdict

Granny Peel has had just one blip in a very good first season and she can regain the winning thread this afternoon, Top Tier and Burlington Fayr could be the best alternatives. Mel Brittain's filly landed three races in a row back in the spring all over this minimum trip. Her only bad run since was over the six furlongs trip so back over five she looks the one to be on. Burlington Fayr gained a deserved victory on soft ground at Ripon last time. The drop in trip and different ground shouldn't be a problem and she looks set for a good run. Top Tier beat the selection at Musselburgh back in July but may struggle to confirm the form at today's weights. In a wide open affair Poniard is another to consider for the places, but our idea of the winner is Granny Peel.
