Verdict

Emerald Wilderness can land the opener at the expense of Mesbaah and Pennyrock. The selection ran well enough on his debut when finishing fourth of eight at Newmarket in June to warrant respect here. He looked a little green that day and was slowly away but now with experience on his side he can put it to good use and improve to score here. Mesbaah has run in two above average races so far at Newmarket and Ascot and this could be seen as a drop in grade. He has not been disgraced on both outings to date and connections have fitted cheek pieces to sharpen him up so any market moves should be noted. Pennyrock comes here on the back of finishing third of four at Beverley on his debut. He is entitled to improvement but more is needed if he is to get his head in front. So for the winner we return to Emerald Wilderness.
