In depth

Verdict

Don Pasquale had to work hard to hold the challenge of Thornaby Green at Nottingham last week and David Barron's gelding is taken to reverse that form on 6lbs better terms for a neck, with Grandad Bill rated the pick of the remainder. The selection was showing improved form from his reappearance outing in that Nottingham contest and, with further improvement anticipated, he looks worth backing to go one better today. Tamatave has slipped to a fair mark and could be of interest, particularly if the market speaks in his favour. Susiedil is hard to recommend on recent form, while Lady Lochinver may be better than she showed at Carlisle last time but is hard to back on that evidence. Grandad Bill is capable and has slipped to a fair mark but Thornaby Green has solid claims and he is preferred.
