Verdict

Star Focus is certain to attract support after decent efforts at Hamilton and Thirsk though both of those events were over 6f and this is a big step-up on a stiff track. POPLAR CLOSE started 50/1 on her debut in what looked a very strong maiden at Doncaster but belied her odds with an eye-catching run. She'll have come on a bundle for the experience and can outstay the likely favourite on the climb to the finish. Causey Arch looked very green at Ayr but stayed on nicely once getting the hang of the job and is another who will have gained from the run. Ann Duffield has sent out several winning juveniles here this season so the newcomer Mr Conundrum is one to keep an eye on.
