Verdict
The draw will no doubt have an effect here so it may pay dividends to give William's Well another chance and he is fancied to reverse recent form with Sir Don on these terms. The ultra tough Cryfield and Bishopstone Man, along with Highland Gait are others for the shortlist. However, William's Well, who won the Great St Wilfred at Ripon off a 19lb higher mark three years ago, has intimated that he is coming back to something like his best. He has also shown that this extra furlong suits him better these days and he can strike for his shrewd connections, who are set to play a strong hand in this competitive little contest. Cryfield could easily be capable of spoiling the party but he has a 6lb penalty to cope with today. Sir Don has to be respected but it will take an almighty effort from him from stall 2 if William's Well hits the gates running.
