Verdict

BIT OF A QUIRKE completed a hat-trick on the track a year ago then won at Chester. He struggled from higher marks subsequently but looked back to his best when runner-up on the latter track last time. He was earlier four lengths behind Archie Perkins here but has a decent pull in the weights and can reverse the form. Global Art has been confined to the all-weather since his early days and will find this track very different but Winged Spur won on fast going at Lingfield, his fifth success, and has to be considered. Chepstow winner Gendarme is in fine form though he’s up 6lb and hasn’t won from a mark this high.
