Verdict
PERFECT PASTURE (NAP) is easily the highest rated of these. Mick Easterby’s charge has won 13 races in his career and, though better over 6f, today’s stiff track and ground will aid his cause. Merhoob is effective at this trip and arrives in good form having scored at Chelmsford, though he’s never won on going with give. Savalas completed a hat-trick in the spring and ran well in very tough handicaps at Newmarket and York. He wasn’t at his best at Doncaster last time but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him bounce back. Orvar won a handicap at Doncaster last month but was well beaten in the Portland Handicap on a return visit while Tricksy Spirit, who has performed well in Listed company, faces a stiff task.
