    Verdict

An ordinary maiden to open the card and it should chiefly concern Fly Silca Fly and our selection VELVET BAND. Paul Cole looks to have found a good opportunity for his filly to break her duck. She does need to put a poor Warwick run behind her if she is to score, but prior to that she had showed up well at both Goodwood and Nottingham, giving us the hint that she has a fair bit of ability. With the yard going well we will forgive her latest outing and take her to win. Fly Silca Fly is one of a pair saddled here by Mick Channon and she too finished down the field in the Listed Chesham Stakes at Ascot last time. She drops back in trip now and a reproduction of her Newcastle run from earlier in the campaign would give her a major say today. Stablemate Gold Fix made a quiet debut in a Newbury race that is working out well and should improve today, while Panpiper will need to improve to get involved, and Velvet Band is the one for us.
