        Verdict

        Several of these have claims in an ordinary contest including Pillars of Wisdom, Kew The Music and Edge Fund but a chance is taken on Polar Sun in the belief that the softer surface will bring about improvement. James Fanshawe has been patient with the son of Polar Falcon who has been restricted to the all-weather so far this term and there could be plenty more to come now that he tackles a softer surface on turf for the first time this season. Tuscarora has claims on the pick of her form but has been off the track for some time and may be a shade high in the weights at present. Wainwright has had no respite from the handicapper since winning at Hamilton in June and of more interest is Pillars of Wisdom, who lost little in defeat in a similar contest at Lingfield last month. Mick Channon's Kew The Music is proving difficult to win with and may be booked for a place at best again, while Edge Fund has slipped to a fair mark but would probably prefer a faster surface.
