In depth

Verdict

Like most of the stable's runners, Daddy's Gift ran well on his reappearance for Richard Hannon at Folkestone at the beginning of the month but that was on heavy ground and he may not be as effective on the faster going today so preference is for PETER ISLAND, who gets the vote ahead of Imperial Guest. George Margarson's gelding has not progressed as much as may have been anticipated following his win in a Listed race at Doncaster back in October 2008 but he ran well enough when a close third in a Windsor handicap when last seen in July and would have chances if ready for this on his reappearance. Hugh Morrison's My Kingdom is probably better on softer ground than this, while Mick Channon's Kerrys Requiem is another that ran well at Folkestone on bottomless ground last time and would probably prefer softer going. The vote then goes the way of Peter Island, who won well on the Polytrack at Kempton recently when making all the running and he looks worth siding with to follow up that success under his penalty with ground conditions to suit back on turf.
