Verdict
The card draws to a close with something of a novelty event in which National Hunt jockeys take centre stage. In a poor contest, Stagnite is taken to gain a richly deserved first success at the main expense of Kilmeena Star, Emmervale and Edward's Brother. The selection has proved a model of consistency, having finished runner-up on his last five starts including a fair effort when just touched off over this trip at Chepstow last time out. Karl Burke's charge has been raised a further 2lb since but looks the most reliable in the line up and can finally open his account. Kilmeena Star stepped up on previous efforts when a close second over the minimum trip at Bath last time but is not the most consistent and it remains open to doubt whether he can reproduce the same level of form. Emmervale has shaped as though this trip stretches her stamina while Edward's Brother looks better on the all-weather after a dismal effort on turf last time so the percentage call has to be Stagnite to take the honours.
