      Verdict

      Peira couldn't follow up her earlier win at Yarmouth back at the same track last time, but she does have the beating of Frederick William. Clarion Call has a couple of recent placed efforts to his credit but has something to prove over today's longer trip so THE CALLING CURLEW is preferred. He makes his handicap debut after a creditable sixth over 1m2f on the Polytrack and, as he hails from the family of smart stayer The Whistling Teal, Henry Candy's charge should improve for the extra distance. Guards Chapel looks the biggest threat despite an 8lb rise for his win on the turf at Lingfield.
