A modest race where ATHBOY AUCTION is only a token pick at the expense of The Jailer and Novastasia. Hugh Collingridge's mare has not won a race on turf thus far so it was something of a surprise when the handicapper decided to drop her 2lb despite running one of her better races last time out. Natasha Eaton is able to take off 7lbs and that could be extremely valuable in the context of this affair. The Jailer is a recent winner at Chepstow. He is sure to be popular though hardly caught the eye in his last run at this esoteric course. Novastasia probably found seven furlongs too far last time out but carried himself with credit nonetheless. Queen Of Thebes was rated 80 as a juvenile so the handicapper is offering her a serious chance at the present. Dualagi and Hart Of Gold are regulars at lowly levels and are therefore quite exposed. Rosiliant isn't the most obvious candidate for a drop in trip but at these race conditions, she is in receipt of all the allowances so the market should be monitored accordingly. Athboy Auction is hardly a bombproof selection but there is room for cautious optimism this afternoon.
