    Verdict

Abbey Cat has been a model of consistency and can get back to winning ways at the expense of Island Prince, Strong Approach and Angaric in a competitive start to proceedings. Although only successful once from her six starts, Alan Swinbank's filly has already been unlucky on a number of occasions, including when chasing home Mister Benedictine at Beverley a fortnight ago. That was over seven furlongs, but this drop back in trip could be the key, as it may well be her optimum distance. With Jamie Spencer on board for the first time, the daughter of Indian Danehill should go close. The trip should also suit Island Prince who came late on the scene to score over five furlongs here last time. He has plenty of weight for what he has achieved so far though and will need to improve. Strong Approach was a bit too keen for his own good when sent off as favourite at Hamilton, and a bit of restraint will see him run well also. Angaric has been given topweight for his nursery bow but has a plum draw in stall 12, so should not be discounted entirely. For the winner though we return to Abbey Cat.
