Verdict

LUCKY PEARL is taken to follow up a recent success in this amateur riders' contest, at the main expense of Migwell Forbees and Samizdat. The last named is still a maiden in 14 starts over hurdles but he ran a fine race here last time to be second, though having no chance with the winner. He has been raised 5lbs for that effort which seems harsh. Migwell Forbees has been running well recently but has failed to win despite travelling well in his races. He looks hard to win with. Such a remark does not apply to Lucky Pearl, who beat easy subsequent scorer Command Marshal at Wincanton last time out. Under a 7lb penalty here Lucky Pearl looks well treated and can score again.
