In depth

Verdict

Pepper Road gets the tentative vote for the race although Night Market and Gifted Flame hold claims. While Becky Bastiman's mount has to contend with a low draw on this occasion, the horse has been in good form of late and certainly knows how to win at this track. Night Market is an infrequent winner but the partnership have been successful in the past in a similar contest. Gifted Flame was giving away 15lb to Pepper Road when finishing 2.5 lengths behind. Today there is only an 8lbs differential. Kelseas Kolby is exposed as plating class but did well to beat Johnny Ebeneezer at Leicester. Paul Blockley's runners are showing glimpses of a return to form but the low draw could have been better. Magic Mamma's Too has a top amateur booked so is sure to be popular while Firozi is another for the short list. Noble Pursuit has not won for two seasons but is at least proven on fast ground. Rainstorm is better over further but goes well for this jockey. A minefield for placepot players in which Pepper Road has the best overall form and is given the nod.
