In depth
Verdict
Young Rooney would be an appropriate winner of this contest in the week that Everton's star striker switched to Manchester United but he has plenty to do to get the better of Countrywide Luck, who gets the vote over Dream Easy. The selection showed plenty of promise when sixth of 20 on his Newmarket debut over a mile in July and proved that this trip would pose no problems when finding Articulation a head too good over a similar distance subsequently. Nick Littmoden's gelding is preferred to Dream Easy, who has shown steady improvement with each outing this term but needs to find more to trouble the selection. Mark Johnston's Sarenne showed only a modicum of ability on his Hamilton debut but is likely to step up on that effort today, as most of the stable's horses improve with racing. Newcomer Jonnyem would not need to be out of the ordinary to take a hand but makes limited appeal on pedigree, while Reem Two probably wants further to be seen to his best. Not many of these are likely to be involved at the business end of a race that should go to Countrywide Luck.
