    In depth

Puppet Theatre has been well beaten at Southwell recently and Asha has a bit to find but the remaining quartet can be given chances. Great Wave dropped to this trip for the first time in a maiden handicap at Yarmouth and very nearly caught Mimi Luke. Percy's Gal hasn't been beaten far in any of her last three starts in handicaps and her regular partner's claim is a bonus though she was behind TWO SMART when the latter finished runner-up at Pontefract last month and Karl Burke's filly looks the one to beat on that form. Whispering Star has only ever raced on an artificial surface and her last runs have been over much further but she's been very well supported on several occasions so someone must think highly of her.

Puppet Theatre (IRE) 8-1 (9-5) Prominent, led over 4f out, headed well over 1f out, no extra inside final furlong, 4th of 6, 9l behind Nur Jahan (9-5) at Southwell 7f mdn stks (5) fbs in Aug.

Asha 40-1 (9-0) Tracked leaders, outpaced 2f out, soon ridden, stayed on to take 3rd inside final furlong, no impression, 3rd of 7, 6l behind Crazy Chic (9-0) at Doncaster 6f 3yo mdn (4) gd in Aug.

Great Wave (IRE) 4-1 (9-7) Slowly away, in rear, headway over 1f out, hard ridden inside final furlong, kept on and just failed close home, 2nd of 9, shd behind Mimi Luke (8-13) at Yarmouth 6f mdn hcp 0-70 (5) gf in Aug.

Percy's Gal 7-2 (8-12) Led until over 1f out, soon rallied, no extra closing stages, 2nd of 7, 1 1/4l behind Meandmyshadow (9-3) at Newcastle 6f flls hcp 0-75 (5) gf in Aug.
