Verdict

Irish Raptor took advantage of a lenient mark over hurdles on his reappearance at Perth but that run should have put his spot on for this valuable contest back over fences and the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained gelding is taken to follow up here, getting the vote ahead of Naunton Brook and King Killone. The last mentioned has not been seen since December but would have solid claims if fit for his reappearance. Howard Johnson's Royal Rosa is better than he showed at the end of last season and has slipped to a fair mark, while Money Line has rather harshly been raised 13lbs for his most recent chase success and that may give Jonjo O'Neill's gelding with too much to do. Henry Daly's Rakalackey was slightly disappointing last time but has claims on earlier form, although a bigger threat is likely to come from Naunton Brook. Nigel Twiston-Davies holds a strong hand here and his eight-year-old cannot be ruled out on his reappearance but it is stablemate Irish Raptor that looks the one to be on.
