Verdict

THE DUKE'S SPEECH showed enough in a stunted chasing spell last season to suggest that he can pick up a race like this; Master Nimbus joins Bougoure and Tell Henry on the shortlist. Ferdy Murphy's gelding has had five runs over fences without winning but his effort behind Jack The Blaster back in February reads fairly well in the context of this race. His runs since over hurdles have come in fair races and he looks sure to have a decent season ahead of him, with his trainer sure to have a pot in mind for him. Master Nimbus was second on his recent fences start at Sedgefield. That was on quick ground but his runs on the flat and over hurdles show that he acts with some cut in the ground. Cavers Glen returns from some time off, as does Astarador who was a good hurdler and is bred to be as good if not better over fences. Tell Henry is from a fair family and now aged seven is likely to be ready for a good season over fences, whilst Earl Sigurd needs respect coming across the Irish sea. All For The Cause ran a better race last time behind Orpen Wide and seems to be progressing, however it is The Duke's Speech who gets our vote.
