In depth

Verdict

Fruity O'Rooney returned to form at Ascot last month but had an alternative engagement yesterday at Lingfield and was pulled up behind GOLDEN CHIEFTAIN (NAP) in the Southern National at Fontwell earlier. Colin Tizzard's charge has won on heavy going over hurdles and is a stout stayer so may outlast the returning Renard, who has to concede 8lb. Harry The Viking also has plenty of stamina but hasn't won for a while, though is still preferred to the out-of-sorts Knock A Hand and Tullamore Dew.
