In depth
Verdict
Only six of the 18 runners here have been seen out on a track making this a very tough race to call, but we'll place our faith in Alan Swinbank's NUTS N BOLTS who can get the better of Tiger Maguire and Jago River, whilst of those to have run Candleford looks just about the pick. A 30,000 guineas purchase, this son of Marju should be at home on the ground and will doubtless attract a degree of support as the yard do exceptionally well in this sphere. It'd be encouraging to see support too as the market is often the best guide in these races, but in anticipation of it we'll take him to improve beyond the standard set by Candleford. Andrew Thornton's mount ran well behind one of Alan Swinbank's best at Doncaster so the latter should know where he stands and we feel his mount, and a couple of others, will prove too good. One of those is Tiger Maguire who would be a well named winner for jockey Jason. Donald McCain does well at this track and his runner enters calculations alongside Jago River, an expensive son of Milan who represents a top yard. Noble Scholar looks the stable second-string so of more interest at a price could be Darkan Road for an underrated yard. He's taken to improve past Empire Builder who looked only modest on his debut, although better ground could help. Yurok may get the better of stablemate Twice Lucky but the yard aren't known for winners in this sphere, unlike the Swinbank operation whose Nuts N Bolts could be the one if the market speaks positively.
