In depth

Verdict

Desert Realm, Scotchman and Glasnas Giant are the three for the shortlist here and Desert Realm can lead them home. Scotchman was having his second outing when finishing a good third behind Hot at Leicester, and with that one going in again at Bath, the form looks solid. He will be thereabouts. Jamie Spencer will give him every assistance. Glasnas Giant has shaped with promise on his two runs to date although he hasn't been seen since April. His latest start saw him get within six lengths of the Queen Mary winner Flashy Wings and although flattered by his proximity, he can go well here. Desert Realm found Masta Plasta too quick at Newcastle last time but that was no disgrace and a reproduction of that run may well be good enough here. Desert Realm is the selection.
