In depth

Verdict

Top Dirham is taken to score here at the main expense of General Feeling and Desert Hunter. The selection ran well last time at Ripon considering he had the worst of the draw and the ground was more testing than he likes. These ground conditions are more suitable and he has a very good draw and he should run a big race. General Feeling shaped with a bit more encouragement at Catterick last time when the fitting of a tongue-tie seemed to have a positive effect. However, although he has won over this trip in the past he is probably better over a slightly shorter trip and for that reason he is taken on. Desert Hunter was reported to have run too free last time so he could fare better here today, although his only win came over 6f. Gifted Flame is a course and distance winner and should not be discounted lightly, but we will side with the other course and distance winner in the field Top Dirham to lead them home.
