In depth

Howard Johnson's Maison Brillet has been given a chance by the handicapper and is now 1lb lower than when successful at Thirsk in May but he is hard to back on the evidence of recent form even in this claimer and a safer option looks to be MIAMI GATOR, who has been performing really well in claimers in recent starts and can confirm recent course and distance form with Jupiter Fidius. Alan Swinbank's three-year-old Chardonnay is less exposed than most of her rivals after just four career starts but she has been well held in two previous runs this term and looks best left out of calculations with a bigger threat likely to come from Cono Zur. Ruth Carr's colt has done little wrong in recent outings is sellers and claimers but seems a shade high in the handicap at present, although he has every chance in a claimer again today.
