Verdict
A low-grade event that is little better than a seller and recent winner Basinet looks the safest choice while Finmar, Peartree House and Beamish Prince appear the chief dangers. John Quinn's charge showed improvement for first-time cheek pieces when justifying favouritism in a Windsor handicap last time out. The son of Alzao had to overcome interference to prevail so can be considered to have scored with a little more in hand than the official half-length winning margin would suggest. Finmar finally opened his account in a weak maiden at Redcar last month but latest placed efforts in fair handicaps give him every chance on these terms while Peartree House is well into the veteran stage but still retains plenty of enthusiasm and is another who has shaped encouragingly of late. Beamish Prince has appeared on the downgrade this term but represents an in-form yard and can't be discounted if the fitting of first-time blinkers have the desired effect but Basinet holds solid credentials and gets the vote.
