        Verdict

        In a race where not too many are guaranteed to see out the trip, Prize Ring is preferred to Vandenberghe, Sninfia and Little Tobias. Vandenberghe was unlucky in running when third in an amateurs' handicap at Chepstow last time, and should be able to win off this mark. However, Jamie Osborne's five-year-old has been well beaten on his four previous attempts beyond a mile and a half and would have to go down as a doubtful stayer. Fletcher certainly gets the trip, but has been out of sorts since winning at Lingfield in April and is hard to be enthusiastic about him, while Court One is better in banded stakes racing. Sninfia and Little Tobias are both proven stayers who are well treated on last season's form and certainly merit respect here, but Prize Ring has the most solid credentials. George Moore's gelding changed hands after winning a seller at Newcastle last year and bounced back to form when runner-up to Magic Combination at Haydock last time, when the third horse was six lengths away. He will be just as happy on this faster ground and off a two pounds higher mark Prize Ring looks the one to beat.
