In depth
Verdict
Howard Johnson's Diamond Frontier is a proven performer under testing conditions and comes here fit and in form having found just Mumbles Head too good at Newcastle earlier this month but he is likely to have to settle for minor honours behind COMHLA RI COIG, who gets the vote with Mr Woods rated the best of the rest. The selection showed a decent level of form over hurdles under testing ground so has no fears of the underfoot conditions and he should come on for his chasing debut when third behind Burton Port at Bangor recently so he looks worth chancing in a race that should not take much winning. Jonjo O'Neill's Nebeltau won no fewer than four times in point-to-points in Ireland and has to be considered on only his second start for current connections but he was pulled up on his rules debut at Hereford earlier this month and looks best watched. James Ewart's Classic Cut is quickly being put over fences following just four starts and was good value for his win in a novices' event at Kelso in March but this is tougher over the larger obstacles and a bigger threat is likely to come from Mr Woods. Harriet Graham's gelding is better than he showed when pulled up at Aintree over hurdles last month and he has to be considered on his chasing debut. Preference though is for Comhla Ri Coig, who has the benefit of chasing experience and, with improvement to come from his reappearance, he can open his account over the larger obstacles.
