In depth

Knight Bachelor is a bit more exposed than some but has been placed four times in handicaps. Petapenko was well beaten when tried over 2m4f at Perth in April but then looked one-paced back over 2m at Hexham. Dark Diamond has been tailed off in his last two over hurdles, including one over this course and distance, but ran better than expected on the Flat at York two weeks ago. BINGO CONTI landed the odds in a bumper at Perth earlier this month. He has further to travel here but stamina shouldn't be a problem and he'll be hard to beat with a clear round.

Bingo Conti (FR) 5-6fav (11-0) Tracked leader, outpaced 3f out, ridden over 2f out, stayed on to challenge inside final furlong, led towards finish, kept on, won at Perth 2m (6) gf in Jun beating Largy Girl (10-7) by 1 3/4l, 5 ran.

Cairnshill (IRE) 50-1 (11-2) Mid-division, 7th halfway, closer in 6th at 8th, improved to challenge 4 out, disputed next, ridden after 3 out, no extra in 6th entering straight, weakened, 6th of 11, 37 1/4l behind Cheiliuradh (10-9) at Wexford 2m 4f mdn gd in Oct.

Dark Diamond (IRE) 50-1 (8-8) Tracked leaders, led over 3f out, soon headed, kept on same pace inside final furlong, 4th of 14, 5 1/4l behind Viserion (9-0) at York 1m 4f hcp (4) gd in Jun.

For Yes (IRE) 5-4fav (12-0) In tch to 12; pu 14, at Aspatria 3m gd in May.

Knight Bachelor 16-1 (11-12) Led, headed before 2 out, weakened and lost 2nd place run-in, 3rd of 10, 25 1/2l behind El Bandit (11-4) at Warwick 2m 5f hcp (4) gd in May.

Petapenko 13-2 (11-0) Prominent, ridden after 2 out, outpaced last, no extra flat, 4th of 9, 6 1/2l behind Desert Island Dusk (11-5) at Hexham 2m (3) gd in Jun.

Gentleman James 25-1 (10-9) Not jump well, always behind, pulled up before 3 out (usual 4 out), at Hexham 2m (4) gs in Jun.
