Verdict

AAZIF put 17l between himself and Cape Explorer when the pair clashed at Sedgefield at the start of the month, since when the McCain inmate has followed up with a comfortable success back at the same track. Cape Explorer now receives a stone from his conqueror which should clearly bring the pair much closer together but the topweight still makes greater appeal, appearing to house greater scope for improvement over timber. John Ferguson is now in charge of former John Oxx gelding, Allowed, who made a satisfactory start for the Newmarket handler when filling the minor placing behind Irish Saint in heavy ground over Christmas. He'll be a different proposition this time and could well emerge as the leading threat to the selection.
