Verdict

COPPER'S GOLD looks like providing Lucinda Russell with another success in this race, with Onthegoagain and Gershwinner others to consider. The selection comes here chasing a hat-trick after wins at Musselburgh in January and Hexham in April. Although he has never raced on fast ground, he certainly goes well when it is good and he stays very well. On the negative side the handicapper has put him up a stone since his last run, so it will be tougher today but we won't desert him yet. Onethegoagain is 3lbs higher than when he also scored at Hexham, which was last October, before disappointing over hurdles at Newcastle. He was well beaten back in Ireland after a break last time, but he should come on for that run and he acts on decent ground, so watch the market for clues. Gershwinner is back on the same mark as his sole career win and stays well. He appears to act on the going and given the record of connections here he is very much respected. Bathwick Breeze has conditions and trip to suit and should stay, and he won't be found wanting for fitness despite an absence, though Copper's Gold is preferred.
