Another competitive handicap on today’s card. Demi Sang bolted up over a shorter trip here last month but has 9lb more and quicker going to contend with today. Princeton Royale ended last season with a flourish but has had a break. Get Out The Gate came unstuck in handicap company at Perth but Double Treasure is interesting reverting to fences after wind surgery as he’s well treated on past form. BEAU SANCY smoothly saw off a subsequent winner at Kelso after a lengthy absence. He’s gone up 12lb but there looks to be plenty more to come from Olly Murphy’s charge, especially now that the ground has come right. Lofgren is no forlorn hope but the others are harder to recommend.
Double Treasure 17-2 (10-3) Made most, joined and clear of rest after 7th, headed narrowly next, ridden after 3 out, soon weakened, tailed off, 8th of 9, dist behind Canyon City (10-0) at Haydock 2m 7f hcp (2) gd in May.
Princeton Royale (IRE) 5-1 (11-12) Led until approaching 3 out, soon rallied, every chance last, no extra closing stages, 2nd of 8, 4 1/2l behind Copper West (10-4) at Haydock 2m 4f hcp (2) gd in Apr.
Get Out The Gate (IRE) 11-2 (11-12) Mid-division on inside, outpaced before 4 out, plugged on run-in, 4th of 10, 28 1/4l behind Indian Temple (11-7) at Perth 3m hcp (2) gs in Jun.
Demi Sang (FR) 7-1 (11-6) Chased leaders, went 2nd 7th, challenging going well when left in clear lead starting bend after last, easily, won at Cartmel 2m 1f hcp (3) gs in May beating Poker School (11-4) by 14l, 5 ran.
Lofgren 11-1 (11-2) Held up, closed 3 out, no impression on front pair from 2 out, stayed on same pace, 3rd of 4, 7 1/4l behind Minellacelebration (11-5) at Aintree 3m 1f hcp (3) gs in Jun.
Beau Sancy (FR) 2-1 (10-6) Held up behind, not fluent 7th, headway 12th, went 2nd 3 out, switched right to challenge between last 2, led before last, drew readily clear flat, comfortably, won at Kelso 2m 7f hcp (3) gd in May beating Viens Chercher (11-3) by 8l, 6 ran.
Quest For Life 3-1 (11-8) Keen in touch, left in close 3rd place at 3rd, went 2nd 4 out until ridden before 2 out, left in 2nd place run-in, no chance with winner, 2nd of 6, 14l behind Diablo De Rouhet (11-8) at Perth 2m 4f hcp (3) gs in Jun.
Alderbrook Lad (IRE) 5-1 (10-11) Led, out-jumped and headed 10th, no impression on winner after last, went 3rd off last bend, 3rd of 5, 16l behind Lord Wishes (10-8) at Cartmel 2m 5f hcp (3) gs in May.
