In depth
Verdict
A poor event which is little better than a seller and Win A lot is the suggestion to small stakes while Mcgillycuddy Reeks, Phamedic and Hirvine are the others to concentrate on. The selection made a winning return to the turf after an all-weather campaign when coming late to land an apprentice event over ten furlongs at Pontefract on Monday. Michael Chapman's charge escapes a penalty and this winning hurdler should appreciate the step up to a mile-and-a-half so has strong credentials in a weak contest. Mcgillycuddy Reeks ended a long losing sequence when scoring here last month but had her obvious limitations exposed when comfortably held next time off a 2lb higher mark and her overall form makes her one to oppose. Phamedic is still a maiden but has been giving the strong impression that the step up to this trip will suit after finishing strongly over shorter on his last two handicap starts while Hirvine has been in excellent form over hurdles of late notching back-to-back wins at Hexham and Sedgefield so has to be respected off a far mark on his return to the Flat.
