In depth
Verdict
Bailieborough and Anchor Date look the main contenders here with possibly Phluke also worthy of mention with the vote going to the tough and consistent Bailieborough. A favourtite around the northern circuit for some time now Bailieborough will carry a penalty for his most recent win at Newcastle where he defeated Sting Like A Bee easily and is therefore set to be reassessed by the handicapper. Connections are keen to take advantage of running with this penalty as his new mark will make things a little more difficult for him. His main rival Anchor Date has been in fantastic form this season and finally got his head in front last time out when beating Mina at Thisk. That was his first taste of success and there will be more to come but he may have to settle for second best again this time around. Phluke has won three times already this season and ran well to finish second at Chester on his penultimate run but was a major disappointment last time out at Lingfield on the all weather so is one to treat with caution. So for the winner we return to Bailieborough.
