In depth
Verdict
Discanti comes into this in good form having landed an Ayr handicap last month and Tim Easterby's gelding has to be respected on that evidence but a 7lb rise and the faster ground today makes life tougher for him and preference is for Style Award, who gets the vote ahead of Sudden Impact. The last mentioned is a confirmed performer on testing ground having won a valuable sales race in Ireland last season on soft ground and finding just Artsu too good on heavy ground at Haydock on Sunday. Paul Green's filly has to be respected here and makes more appeal than Kinout, who has run respectably on a soft surface before but is probably better on a faster surface. The ground should hold no fears for Firenza Bond, who won his maiden on soft ground, but he disappointed at Haydock on Sunday and looks best watched after that effort. The vote then goes to way of Style Award, who has shown a consistent level of form including on a soft surface, and she looks the one they all have to beat.
