Verdict
Cherished Number showed a little promise on his seasonal return when a close second at Thirsk and confirmed the view with solid efforts in competitive handicaps at Newmarket and Newcastle. Iroquois Chief ran respectably on his all-weather debut behind handful at Wolverhampton and showed that he would appreciate a return to this trip when a staying on third at Chester off a mark of 65 earlier in the month. Lieuday ran well on his debut in August before disappointing when favourite on a soft surface on his only other start in October and has to be considered if fully wound up for his return. Similar comments apply to the reappearing Yorkie, not beaten far in a nursery off 73 over this C&D last backend.
